ABOUT
Me and Thor (The dog)
Personal
I’m a UX Designer, a nature lover, a dog dad and more.
I’ve watched Empire Strikes Back too many times to count
I could finish off a small wheel of Brie with just a box of Rits Crackers
I put too much garlic in my marinara sauce
My idea of a perfect day is a walking though the park with a cold press and my dog.
Research & Design
As a UX Designer, I enjoy both research and design aspects of the practice. I define myself as a generalist. When conducting a contextual inquiry, I really enjoy discovering the world of the users and synthesizing the data that emerges. At the same time, wire framing is a pool I could swim in all day long. My face lights up when I finish a user flow in Sketch.
Either way, I get a rush when I discover a way to bring value to the user.
Proud Work History
My life before becoming a UX designer has filled my toolkit with business, marketing and leadership skills.
My past professional career has many similarities to the world of UX Design. Planning a beer festival at US BANK Stadium, developing a marketing strategy for a new IPA brand or driving traffic to a restaurant patio during the summer all have the same thing in common. They all focus on discovering the needs of people and understanding how to help them.
My Design
Enneagram
The Enneagram is a test dividing users into 9 different profiles to gain context and insight into interpersonal dynamics. The test identified me as Type 3: The Achiever.
According to the Enneagram Institute “Threes know how good it feels to develop themselves and contribute their abilities to the world, and also enjoy motivating others to greater personal achievements than others thought they were capable of.”
This resonates we me on a personal level, I always want myself and those around me to grow and better themselves. As a UX Designer, that comes in the form of helping users identify problems and finding solutions for them.
CliftonStrengths Assessment
Formally knows as the Strengthsfinder, this test uncovers the users Top 5 strengths. Here are my top 5 strength as determined by the CliftonStrengths Assessment.
Positivity: enthusiasm that is contagious.
Woo: skillfully connecting with other people
Competition: striving to win first place
Ideation: finding connections between seemingly disparate phenomena
Futuristic: inspiring others with their visions of the future
Design Philosophy
Good Design is beautiful and reflects itself all around me. I appreciate the well worn hiking trail that curves the river with grace, the Manhattan with the perfect ratio of whiskey to vermouth and the painting with the unique color palette.
All of these designs inspire me, and I celebrate them in my practice.
I am a a11y and believe everyone deserves empathetic design.
